I think there are logical reasons as to why we pick up more injuries than most other teams.

1. Our style of play means more often than not we have a larger % of possession than the opposition. This means we are subjected to more tackles per game. More tackles, means more chance of injury. Simple logic really.

2. Some opposition teams try the over physical approach (I am not moaning about it) it’s common knowledge that teams try this with us, and of course it takes its toll. Diaby’s injury against Bolton this weekend is the perfect example.

3. Almost all our players are internationals, and from all over the world too. Most play first team football for their respected countries (even our fringe players), and are subjected to long trips abroad and additional games. Yes, it’s the same for other teams, but this still fits into my theory for Arsenal as we gets lots of injuries after international breaks.

4.We have hardly ever started the season off with a fully fit squad. This puts more playing time on the fit players. They cannot be rested, and sometimes are forced to play through minor injuries which lead on to more serious injuries.

5. Because of our injury problems, as explained above, Wenger tends to rush injured players back and they suffer set backs. It like a viscous circle.

6. We have a very young squad. Young men can continue to grow and develop (this really is person specific) from 18 to as old as 25.
